06 · Logistics Checklist

The practical part.

Driver's license & vehicle registration

Arkansas requires a state license within 30 days of establishing residency. Vehicle registration and plates are handled through the Department of Finance & Administration, bring title, proof of insurance, and proof of assessed personal property.

Property taxes & assessment

Arkansas personal property (vehicles, boats) must be assessed with the county by May 31 each year. Real estate is assessed at the county level and generally runs lower than most other states.

Utilities setup

Entergy for electric, Centerpoint for gas, Central Arkansas Water for water, and a handful of internet providers depending on neighborhood. We hand this list off with contacts and typical lead times.

School enrollment timing

Private and charter application windows generally open in the fall for the following academic year. Public districts enroll year-round once you have proof of address.

Moving companies & storage

For interstate moves, book 6-8 weeks out during peak season. We keep a short list of vetted local movers, packers, and short-term storage options we've worked with directly.

07 · FAQ

What we get asked most.

Is Little Rock a good place to live?

For buyers relocating from higher-cost metros, the space-to-price ratio is usually the biggest surprise. Add short commutes, real seasons, deep school choice, and immediate access to the Ouachitas, the Ozarks, and the Arkansas River, and it holds up.

Do I need a car?

Yes. Little Rock is a driving city, most day-to-day life assumes a car.

How do Arkansas property taxes compare?

Real estate property taxes in Arkansas run well below the national average. Personal property (vehicles, boats) is also assessed annually and factored into your county tax bill.

What's the best time of year to move?

Late spring through early summer aligns with school calendars and peak inventory. Fall moves face less competition and work well when school timing isn't a factor.

Can you represent me before I visit?

Yes. Most of our relocation clients hire us weeks or months before they arrive. We build a neighborhood brief, run live video tours, and sequence a single high-value visit rather than a string of scattered trips.

Do you work with corporate relocation packages?

Yes. We work regularly with corporate relocation policies, physician recruitment, and executive moves, and we're happy to coordinate directly with your relocation coordinator or HR partner.

What if we need help after closing, movers, schools, utilities?

That's the part most agents drop. Through The Elite Group's estate and lifestyle management team, we can hand off, or fully coordinate, everything from movers and vendors to settling the household.
